FEMA Region X FRC Renovation

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has 34,000 square feet of buildings, which house five Region X FEMA divisions and the FEMA Office of the Regional Administrator. ECH was brought in to lead the design of a new Regional Response Coordination Center—the planning area, logistics area, conference room, telecommunications room, and break room. The renovation included upgrades across the board—the floor system, walls, glazing, mechanical, lighting, acoustics, and telecommunications. The open-layout project would require flexibility for rapid reconfiguration—and was on an incredibly fast timeline—so transparent communication with our client was essential to account for everything. The upgrades will enable FEMA’s mission to support citizens and first responders to prepare for, respond to, recover from all hazards, and ensure they’re always ready to achieve excellence.
